Healthy Backs
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday at 4:00pm
Saturdays 8:00am + Sunday at 4:00pm
Want to improve the health of your BACK? Improve our posture! Gain strength! Gain flexibility! Increase core power! This type of class comes from the Iyengar form of Yoga which is a form of yoga with a strong focus on the structural alignment of the physical body through the practice of asanas (yoga poses) which improve flexibility, strength, and balance. It differs from other styles of yoga in three ways: precision, sequence and the use of props, which make it easier, and support you during the class. Precision is sought in body alignment in every pose as to correct and realign the body. .
This class uses our yoga wall (rope wall) and is a way to practice yoga poses with the use of the wall and the rope as helpers for resistance and support. It can add a feeling of relief in some positions.
This is perfect for beginners in yoga, also great for anyone who wants to truly perfect their alignment and position. It is also excellent for people who have back pain/ problems and need to strengthen and relax the back. Emphasis will be put on specific poses that target the hips and spine both on and off the Yoga Wall. Whether you are brand new to Yoga or more advanced, you are certain to find a way to improve and deepen your practice with this class.
Level 1 Vinyasa
Mondays 12:00pm
A dynamic yoga practice linking movement to breath and flowing through strong sequences, designed to empower you from within. This beginner level class provides inspiration and support for you to thrive both on and off the mat!
Healing Hatha
Mondays 10:30am
Healing Hatha is an all levels class which combines gentle rhythmic movement, sustained standing poses, pranayama (breathing exercises) and deep relaxation. This class focuses on mindfulness, an observation of sensations of the body and breath, and incorporates the therapeutic principles of Yoga to create a healing experience.
Yin / Nidra
Mondays 7:00pm
This is a therapeutic restorative class with an emphasis on conscious deep relaxation in each pose. With a focus on lower back, hips, shoulders and neck, we will deliberately slow down and use breath to reduce stress and take an internal retreat. By being fully supported with props you will be in apposition to receive energy in rejuvenating postures and find deep relaxation. The focus is on stretching the muscles releasing tension in the body. A great class for beginners and anyone seeking to add a relaxing yoga class to their practice at the end of their day. We will finish with a 15 minutes yoga nidra meditation. Receive an affirmation card at the end of class.
Deep Healing Yoga
Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:30am + Saturdays 11:30am
A deeply restorative, healing and contemplative class designed to promote physical and emotional balance, stress reduction, self-healing and greater inner awareness. Deep Healing blends Yoga postures, Pranayama (the regulation of the breath through certain techniques and exercises), Mantra (a word or sound repeated to aid concentration in meditation.) and meditation with the core philosophical principles of Yoga and Ayurveda. This class also incorporates Yoga Nidra ( a deep relaxation technique and form of meditation) and sound healing practices during Savasana (the final resting pose at the end of almost every yoga practice- in which you lie on your back, fully relaxed with your arms and legs extended, palms face up by your side, and eyes closed.) with crystal singing bowls, chimes, and other healing sounds.
Yin Yoga
Wednesdays and Fridays 10:30am + Sundays 5:15pm
Yin poses give us opportunities to slow down ~ and be ready for Restorative poses ~ where we discover the art of relaxation which is so beneficial for our immune system. In this Practice, students will be gently guided through a calming meditation to bring awareness to the breath. A passive, deeply relaxing class, Yin draws awareness to the body to help gradually release soft tissue restrictions and improve flexibility.
Join this class and learn to study your responses, reduce stress and anxiety.and effort within poses. The class may provide healing on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels for the student wishing to go deeper within. This class will leave you feeling like you’ve had a massage. Breathing techniques and a crystal bowl Savasana may be included.
Breathe and Meditate
Thursdays 6:45pm
This class focuses on breath and meditation for relaxation and healing. Begin with some light movement in the form of Gentle Yoga or Qi Gong followed by a set of breathing exercises to calm the mind in preparation for meditation. After the meditation, lie down, relax and integrate with a singing bowl sound bath. All levels welcome, you can sit on the floor with a bolster or on a chair during the breath and meditation portion.
***All the above classes are great for learning the basics of Yoga, improving flexibility, reducing stress and anxiety and for preparing your body for a more vigorous flow (IF you feel you want to). But you’d be surprised how many very experienced Yogis come take all these above classes.
Even though Yoga is great for the physical body, toning, strengthening and for balance and flexibility, remember that above all,
YOGA is A WORK IN , not a Work Out. :)
If you feel you would like a more active flow, feel free to check out our Flow and Restore, and all of our Vinyasa classes.
